(PRWEB) April 17, 2007 -— WorldatWork has announced the names of two authors who will receive the '2006 WorldatWork Publications Contributor of the Year' awards. These authors were voted the best by WorldatWork advisory board members for their insightful contributions to workspan magazine and the WorldatWork Journal.

The honorees are:
1. Kerry Chou, Director of Global Compensation & Benefits for ON Semiconductor
2. John Koob, Corporate M&A Services Business Leader-South US Region for Mercer Human Resource Consulting

2006 WorldatWork Publications Contributor of the Year
The awards will be presented at the Author and Reviewer Reception to be held May 8 during the annual WorldatWork Total Rewards Conference & Exhibition 2007 in Orlando, FL.

Chou wrote “Getting The Most Out of Your Merit Budget” which appeared in the September 2006 issue of workspan magazine. The article discusses how to make pay-for-performance programs more effective given a finite merit budget. Chou believes that if organizations want to get more bang for the buck out of their merit budget, and send the right messages to employees, they need to get serious about differentiating performance and disciplined in allocating merit dollars.

Koob submitted a paper for the Third Quarter 2006 WorldatWork Journal titled “The Clean Team: An Emerging Tool for M&A Success.” The paper underscores the importance of organizational culture in a post-merger integration. The paper explains why even businesses that offer similar products or services may have markedly different cultures, and those differences are bound to surface during post-deal integration. A clean team can help merging entities get a grip on the dimensions of culture and educate their leaders about each other’s beliefs and ways of working.

Both workspan and WorldatWork Journal are benefits to WorldatWork members.

All WorldatWork Journal and workspan magazine articles published in 2006 were eligible for this award. A team of WorldatWork practice leaders selected the finalist articles, which were judged by members of WorldatWork advisory boards based on practical application (workspan) or quality of research, theory (WorldatWork Journal); clarity of presentation; pertinence to compensation, benefits and total rewards professionals; and contribution to the field.
