Stanford, CA (PRWEB) November 2, 2006 -- From securing a Chief Executive Officer or President role to learning how to work with executives, customers, boards, and investors, ambitious MBAs with aspirations to become head of a company can learn from experienced CEOs on what it takes in this role. Alumni Career Services at Stanford Graduate School of Business, together with Deborah Henken, president of go-to-market consulting firm Highland Team, and Kathryn Ullrich, president of executive recruitment firm Kathryn Ullrich Associates, Inc., are presenting the final installment in the "Getting to the Top" career development series for 2006, "Getting to the Top – CEOs at the Top," planned for Thursday, November 9th.

The program will explore the skills and traits necessary for advancing to CEO, as well as career success milestones and lessons learned along the way with the following CEO panelists:

  • Craig Donato, Oodle
  • James Heeger, PayCycle
  • Ken Rudin, LucidEra
  • Gwen Spertell, Liquid Engines
  • Moderators: Deborah Henken, Founder of Highland Team marketing consultancy, and Kathy Ullrich, Executive Recruiter at Kathryn Ullrich Associates, Inc.

"After a successful year of the Getting to the Top career series, we're concluding the 2006 career development series with CEOs at the top. With many MBAs having ambition to become president or CEO this was a natural culmination to the series. The panelists are all seasoned executives that have been CEOs multiple times that can share with the audience what leadership and management skills are needed to run a company," said Mercy Eyadiel, Director, Stanford Graduate School of Business Alumni Career Services.

"As a recruiter working on CEO searches, I hear executives talk about experiences managing their sales executives or working with a board for the first time. They face new challenges, different than those of functional vice presidents of marketing, sales or development," said Kathy Ullrich, executive recruiter with Kathryn Ullrich Associates, Inc. "The executive panelists will share their insights and mistakes to provide career development advice and mentoring to others wanting to successfully run companies."

"Getting to the Top – CEOs at the Top" will take place Thursday, November 9th, at Stanford GSB, Bishop Auditorium at 6:00 pm for networking, 7:00 pm for the program.

The registration fee is $40 in advance, $50 at the door. Stanford Graduate School of Business alumni that pre-register are welcome for a discount price of $25 in advance, $35 at the door. Please visit www.ullrichassociates.com/career_series.html for registration and details of previous programs.

The "Getting to the Top" seminar events were created for those seeking their own training and mentorship to reach the next career level in marketing. Previous "Getting to the Top" seminars in 2006 focused on Product Marketing/Management, Marketing, Public Relations, Strategic Alliances and Channels with tips on vision setting, communications, "knowing thy customer," and team skills. Event panelists included executives from Adobe, Business Objects, eBay, Cisco, Clorox, Hewlett-Packard, PeopleSoft, Polycom, Procter & Gamble, Sybase, and Symantec.
