New Program Sets to Protect the Public from Premium Rate Phone In Competition 'Rip Off's'

Can the UK fall back in love with Premium Rate Competitions? For the first time Premium Rate Services Expert Richard Howard reveals the plans for an independent accreditation program called Fair Play Competitions that monitors the operation of such competitions and ensures that they give users an equal chance to win, the question is fair and also confirms that a winner does get selected.

(PRWEB) June 25, 2007 -- Can the UK fall back in love with Premium Rate Competitions? Or has public confidence been shattered for ever?

Premium Rate Specialist Richard Howard for the first time reveals what he foresees the future of premium rate competitions... "No doubt the last few weeks have certainly been some of the darkest in Premium Rate History. I've been disgusted by the number of high profile phone-in services that haven't been giving users an equal chance to win and believe that the overwhelming amount of negative coverage regarding competitions via phone and SMS is in danger of permanently scaring such services with a "rip off" stamp where as in reality only a fraction of such services are deliberately run against ICSTIS's Code of Practice."

stamp where as in reality only a fraction of such services are deliberately run against ICSTIS's Code of Practice.
"I have long believed that the public have been crying out for a recognizable & trusted stamp that validates competitions run by Premium Rate, a scheme that independently confirms the cost per entry, the prize, who runs the promotion & explains how the winner is selected. And so due to public demand I will be leading the launch of such a program."

The scheme called "Fair Play Competitions" is the first of its kind will encourage premium rate competition promoters to join to verify that their competition operates not only to ICSTIS guidelines but also to the Fair Play Competitions program's strict moral code.

Richard continues - "Competitions that include sneaky clauses like 10,000 entries must be received or no prize is issued will not be eligible for the Fair Play seal of approval. Competitions where the answer could be one of many such as those that operate on late night TV would have their questions & answers independently screened to verify that they are giving callers a reasonable chance to win the prize if they wanted to qualify."

For the convenience of the UK public each promoter will be given their own license code which will be required to be added to the promoters advertising along with the official logo. Entered in to the official Fair Play website: FairPlayCompetitions.co.uk it will confirm the validity of the service and that they abide by Fair Play's strict rules & moral code.

Howard continues….

"Fair Play will not only reassure the public that promoters who carry its logo operate their competitions fairly, but one of the most popular features is likely to be the fact that competition winners will be selected independently. This will assure the public of two things 1 that the prize in the advert will be given away and 2 that they have an equal chance to win. Approved members will also be required to send prizes via registered mail and add winners names to their profile on the Fair Play Competitions website."

Richard concludes…

"The Fair Play Competition Scheme will also bring HUGE benefits to those who host Premium Rate Competitions as I'm optimistic that the public will soon warm to the Fair Play Program and therefore become more inclined to participate in competitions carrying it's impartial seal of approval. I wouldn't be surprised if over time it began attracting callers who've never entered an 090 comp in their life in addition to attracting those back who've become slightly put off such services as of late."

"I'm so excited about the launch as partnered with public support and that of Premium Rate Competition Promoters we can finally wipe out cowboy and rip off competitions for ever!"

Members of the public looking to protect themselves from premium rate rips offs and those interested in being kept up to date with this revolutionary new monitoring service are invited to visit: www.FairPlayCompetitions.co.uk as are competition promoters.
