Lake Bluff, IL (PRWEB) September 21, 2011
What can Pan-Asian noodles, classic Mexican soda pop, and Brazilian bossa nova have in common? They’ll all be found at BENNU Legal Services’s “Saturday Sounds of Brazil in the Park,” on Saturday, October 1, from 4:00-7:00 PM on the Lake Bluff Village Green.
“We want to treat our friends and families from our community to an enjoyable evening of culture,” explains Andrew Sagartz, BENNU’s Executive Director. “It’s kind of like the United Nations goes to Ravinia.”
The night’s entertainment will feature the relaxing rhythms of Bossa Tres, a trio that music connoisseurs have called “the greatest thing going in Brazilian music in Chicago these days.” Artists Luciano Antonio, Dill Costa, and Marcos Oliveira will ply their harmonies, solo vocals, guitar, and rhythms to showcase the several smooth sounds of Brazilian music. Marcos, who grew up playing music in the streets of Rio de Janeiro, says, “We’re happy to share this evening with BENNU and its friends. We hope that the rich and soulful rhythms of our music will carry people to a peaceful state of mind.”
Admission to the event is free. Families are welcome, and picnic blankets encouraged. Food and drink sales available at the event will benefit BENNU’s efforts to assist local domestic violence victims. Noodle Bar, a culinary landmark of Lake Bluff, will offer for purchase its Pan-Asian specialties and donate a portion of the proceeds back to BENNU. Originally developed in New York, Noodle Bar’s cuisine encompasses Chinese, Malaysian, and Thai mainstays, while incorporating Latin, European, and Japanese influences. Richard Bentsen of Noodle Bar declares, “Noodle Bar will add some Southeast Asian charm to this Brazilian-themed evening.” Additionally, Novamex has donated the quintessential Mexican soda Jarritos to BENNU free of charge. A 50-year-old cultural icon, it will be offered for donations to BENNU’s domestic violence initiative.
Other community organizations have lent a hand to the evening as well. One such organization is State Bank of the Lakes in Antioch, which prides itself on being a “true community bank, run by local leadership with an ear for responsiveness” to the communities it serves. Says Jim Kinney, the Bank’s President, “State Bank of the Lakes in Antioch is pleased to help make possible this celebration of BENNU’s volunteers and friends, who are so vital to BENNU’s community-building work.”
Other sponsors include Schiff Hardin LLP, a general practice law firm representing clients across the United States and around the world, as well as realtor Linda Dlabay from CENTURY 21 Kreuser and Seiler.
It’s only a matter of time before fall’s frost descends and concerts on the lawn become a distant dream. While the breeze is still gentle, BENNU invites families from across the area to stop by to enjoy a globally soulful evening.
