How Much Did Your Favorite Organization Spend on Lobbying?

Lobbyists.info now Includes Dollar Figures for Each Lobbying Registrant.

Bethesda, MD (PRWEB) (June 9, 2008) -- Political scholars, news organizations and lobbyists tracking their competition can now quickly discover the amount of income and expenditures entities allocated to lobbying in 2006 and 2007.

Columbia Books & Information Services (CBIS) is pleased to announce that lobbying financial totals for the past two years are now available for each reporting entity on Lobbyists.info, the online version of government relations reference Washington Representatives.

Researchers can now view any lobbying firm's online listing to see how much total income it collected from its clients in the past two years. Listings of corporations, trade associations and other organizations also include any amounts that they reported spending on in-house staff and outside counsel for lobbying.

These totals may be used in the future to see year-to-year trends of spending by an organization.

"We are excited to provide Lobbyists.info users a way to track how the money flows in Washington," said Valerie Sheridan, Managing Editor at CBIS.

CBIS collects these lobbying amounts from public information provided by the Senate Office of Public Records (SOPR). Each lobbying firm receiving more than $5,000 from a particular client or organization spending more than $20,000 during a semiannual period in the past two years was required to disclose their lobbying finances to the House and Senate.

The display of lobbying financial data debuted in the Fall 2007 edition of Washington Representatives.
