Father's Day on a Budget ACCC Provides consumers budget conscious advice for Father's Day Newtion, MA (PRWEB) June 12, 2008 -- Father's Day is a time to recognize Dad for all of his hard work and support he has provided for the family over the years. Although expensive gifts or plans may be nice gestures, they aren't necessary to show appreciation, especially for someone on a budget. One thing to keep in mind when searching for the perfect gift for Dad is that the best gifts are given from the heart.
The value of a gift is found in the amount of thought that is put into it, not the amount of money spent on it. Here are some budget conscious ideas for Father's Day gifts, provided by the credit counseling professionals at American Consumer Credit Counseling (ACCC):
For consumers who have a little cash to spend on Dad, there are plenty of inexpensive options out there. What does your Dad love to do? Is he a golfer or sports fan, a movie buff or music fan, or does he enjoy reading or puzzles? What kind of foods does he like? A round of golf, a new book, puzzle, album, DVD or a meal at his favorite restaurant all make great affordable Father's Day gifts if the money is available. For consumers who don't have the funds to buy Dad a gift this Father's Day, don't worry, there are plenty of thoughtful things to do for him without spending any money.
Do some of the chores that Dad normally does, and give him some time to relax. Washing the car, mowing the lawn, doing yard work or handy work are all thoughtful ways to show some appreciation. To get some ideas just ask Dad what needs to be done around the house. He will be glad to have been asked.
Homemade gifts are a great way to show appreciation for Dad. Build him a birdhouse, make a collage out of photos, burn him a CD with some of his favorite songs on it, or cook him one of his favorite meals. Come up with a creative way to spend some time with Dad. There's nothing like the great outdoors! Going on a fishing or camping trip with Dad is a great way to spend some quality time with him. If your dad is into sports, check out a local game that is only a few dollars to see.
Whether it's giving him a thoughtful gift, or spending some quality time, going out the way to make Father's Day special for Dad will show him that he is truly appreciated.
