The 2008 Carolinas' Thanksgiving Day Parade presented by Belk will be marching in uptown Charlotte before you know it. A regional tradition and highlight of the holiday season for more than six decades, the parade is now proudly online at http://www.carrouselparade.org.

In addition to parade information for the more than 100,000 annual spectators, the website offers features and information on parade participation, scholarship programs, photo galleries, and volunteer and sponsorship opportunities.

The Carolinas' Thanksgiving Day Parade and its ancillary events are produced by the non-profit charitable organization, Carolinas' Carrousel, Inc.

Executive Director Linda Healy Vespa says of the website, "We are so excited for this launch to aid our efforts to celebrate the beginning of the holiday season with our parade. It also addresses our scholarship program with its goals to promote academic and artistic excellence through awards to area high school students and marching bands, and to encourage excellence in the future leaders of the area."

The website is also a wonderful source for Thanksgiving Day planning. Vespa continues, "On November 27, 2008, the parade will start at 10 AM, so you can come uptown to watch the parade and still have plenty of time to enjoy the rest of Thanksgiving Day with friends and family." Online visitors can sign up to receive the Parade's E-News Newsletter for the most up-to-date and complete event information.

Founded in 1947 by four local businessmen to attract holiday shoppers to downtown Charlotte, the Thanksgiving week events have become so much more. Marching bands, floats, special units, decorated cars, step units, drill teams and more are highlights of the parade with awards for the three classes of entries, while Carolinas' Carrousel offers scholarship awards to recognize outstanding students in the region including the John M. Belk Scholarships, the Marching Band Scholarship Program and the Robert L. Maddox Music Scholarship.
