Groundbreaking Neo-Exotic Performance Troupe Brings New Theatrical Production

Desert Sin Dance Company presents "Musée des Femmes – Tales of the Grotesque and Arabesque" at the historic Ivar Theater in Hollywood – March 2004

LOS ANGELES, CA (PRWEB) January 30, 2004 -

Direct from their sensational appearance on HBO’s Real Sex, The Desert Sin Dance Company will premiere their highly anticipated Musée des Femmes [Museum of Women] at Hollywood’s historic Ivar Theater in March 2004. Known nationwide for their edgy and erotic fusion of dance and theater, Desert Sin has created an all new lavish, over-the top spectacle retelling the tales of some of the boldest, most intriguing women in history and fiction. The company lends an emotional and human twist on fantastic characters such as the Hindu Goddess Kali, Joan of Arc, The Snow Queen and Mata Hari, and includes a bevy of body painted dancers, taking us on a virtual dusk-til-dawn tour of ancient Egypt.

Desert Sin is one of the most experimental, cutting-edge dance companies in North America. Founded in 1999, Desert Sin utilizes Middle Eastern dance, ballet, modern, neo-exotica, extensive theatrics and costuming in their critically acclaimed productions. The dance company has gained major popularity from their appearances at special events, corporate functions, theaters, nightclubs and television while touring throughout the United States.

Djahari Clark, founder of Desert Sin Dance Company, has strong ties to Morocco. The youngest and only female member of her U.S. military family stationed in Morocco, she was engulfed and inspired by Islamic and Middle Eastern culture, which fueled her passion for the now popular, 20-plus member, Desert Sin Dance Company. "This new production is a culmination of our experiences as dancers and artists from around the world," says Djahari Clark, an 18-year dance/theater veteran. "We are thrilled about this project as nothing like this has ever been done before. Quite simply - we are going to mesmerize the audience!"

Desert Sin has employed the assistance of Magician and Illusionist-FX master Jeremy Vargus to help bring this ambitious project to life. Vargus has created ground-breaking magical effects for the production’s launch including his famous indoor snowstorm, pyrotechnics, and lasers. "The magical effects have been brilliantly integrated into the production’s unique story line to add grandeur making it a true vision!" says Djahari Clark. "This is a very exciting project for us [Desert Sin]. The beautiful and haunting display of Musée des Femmes will change the audience’s views on these incredible women forever while delivering an unforgettable entertainment spectacle that the audience will never forget!"

Musée des Femmes – Tales of the Grotesque and Arabesque premieres in Los Angeles March 5, 6, 7 and 12, 13, 14 2004 at the Ivar Theater, 1605 Ivar Ave. Hollywood, CA 90028. Showtime is at 8p.m. Tickets are $23- on sale at: http://www.plays411.com/desert or by calling: 323-960-7792
