Greeting Cards get Phones Ringing

CARDTONES are a revolutionary new concept designed to enhance the desirability of greetings cards by embedding a mobile voucher inside the card. The recipient can then choose and order a "free" ringtone, wallpaper or mobile game, which is then delivered to their handset over-the-air.

Guildford, UK (PRWEB) February 5, 2004--Bayham Systems today unveiled CARDTONES, a solution for greeting card publishers, enabling the incorporation of mobile ringtones inside traditional cards. With CARDTONES the ringtone is paid for as part of the purchase price of the card; the recipient can choose from a menu of content displayed inside the card and order an item by sending a text message from their phone.

CARDTONES is a fully managed solution that takes care of all the technology, content production, rights management and settlement. Card publishers can choose from a vast library of 3,000 fully licensed ringtones, supporting both regular and polyphonic handsets, and spanning multiple genres, including pop, rock, TV, sports and movie themes. Additionally several thousand wallpapers, downloadable games and video clips make for an exciting portfolio of premium mobile content that is constantly being updated to serve a variety of tastes, interests, and occasions.

CARDTONES are based on unique codes which hold one or more credits. Ringtones and other content items are claimed by sending a text message containing the code. When the code's credit is exhausted it becomes invalid and cannot be used again.

Interested greeting card publishers will be pleased to learn that CARDTONES are highly cost effective and straightforward to license and integrate into their product range.

Adam Holt, Commercial Director for Bayham Systems commented, "In many markets the retail price of ringtones is often comparable to that of CD Singles. Therefore CARDTONES are perceived by the consumer to be a true value-add to the traditional greeting card format."

The CARDTONES technology can also be applied in other areas besides greetings cards. Any promotion that wishes to encourage a purchase through the incentive of a mobile content give-away can incorporate the same mobile voucher technology behind CARDTONES. It's as simple as printing a unique code and ordering instructions: everything else is handled by Bayham.
