G30 Welcomes Philipp Hildebrand, Kenneth Rogoff, and Tharman Shanmugaratnam to Membership The Group of Thirty (G30) welcomed three new members of the Group at its spring plenary, which was hosted by the Bank of Israel in Jerusalem on May 24-26, 2008. The new members are: Philipp Hildebrand, Vice Chairman of the Swiss National Bank; Kenneth Rogoff, Professor of Economics at Harvard University; and Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Minister of Finance, Singapore. Washington, DC (PRWEB) June 20, 2008 -- The Group of Thirty (G30) welcomed three new members of the Group at its spring plenary, which was hosted by the Bank of Israel in Jerusalem on May 24-26, 2008. The new members are: Philipp Hildebrand, Vice Chairman of the Swiss National Bank; Kenneth Rogoff, Professor of Economics at Harvard University; and Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Minister of Finance, Singapore.
Jacob A. Frenkel, Chairman of the G30, said: "We are delighted that these outstanding persons have accepted membership of the Group. I am sure they will make significant contribution to the intellectual life of the G30, our seminars, events and work program in the years ahead."

The Group of Thirty, formally known as "The Consultative Group on International Economic and Monetary Affairs, Inc." was founded in 1978. The Group of Thirty is a private, nonprofit, international body composed of senior representatives of the private and public sectors and academia. The Group aims to deepen understanding of international economic and financial issues, to explore the international repercussions of decisions taken in the public and private sectors and to examine the choices available to market practitioners and to policymakers. The Group is led by Paul A. Volcker, Chairman of the Trustees, and Jacob A. Frenkel, Chairman of the Group.
