Lakeville, CT (PRWEB) February 13 2004--A Connecticut based firm is adding its support to an historic transatlantic flight on March 4, 2004 by two women pilots in a single engine Beechcraft Bonanza. The pilots, Madeleine Dupont and Maria Eliana Christen, are scheduled to depart from Santiago, Chile, fly across the Andes mountain chain, and then journey across the Atlantic Ocean and points beyond. The 16,300 nautical mile route to Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, and the return around the northern part of South America, is expected to last approximately 111 flight hours over a period of approximately 6 weeks. The actual route can be viewed on their website at www.chile.com/travesia2004

This very challenging general aviation project has been organized to celebrate a number of historic flight milestones as well as to promote friendship and inspire interest in general aviation around the world. The most arduous leg is expected to be ten hours nonstop over water and will require alert piloting and sharp navigation skills.

How are the two pilots going to make this aviation dream come true? It will take a lot of thorough planning, endurance training, enthusiasm and determination, as well as help from sponsors and volunteers regarding airplane modifications, fuel, layovers, servicing, and other support. One proud U.S. sponsor is LJB Piper, LLC, offering their handy electroBlast hydration aid to help keep the pilots refreshed and hydrated on their rigorous journey. A uniquely portable tablet that fits in a pocket or flight bag, the electroBlast Fizz-Tab is simply dissolved in water when needed to make an electrolyte drink for rehydration in the cockpit. As Madeleine stated after trying the electroBlast refreshments, Apart from being just right for our special flight, they also have a very pleasant taste. Congratulations for this product and many thanks for providing our project with electroBlast."

Because the flight project is such a large undertaking, Madeleine and Maria Eliana continue to welcome any additional contributions or sponsorship to help make their goals a success (Contact their website:www.chile.com/travesia2004 or info@electroblast.com). The two pilots have stated that the purpose of the flight is to promote general aviation and friendship as well as to be an inspiration to young girls, women, and others around the world by showing it is possible to stretch their wings" to make dreams come true.

More details on the transatlantic flight: Madeleine Dupont and Maria Eliana Christen, women pilots from Santiago, Chile and members of Zonta, are planning to cross the Andes Mountain Chain, the South Atlantic Ocean to Europe, and then return in a single engine Beech aircraft owned by Madeleine. The Beechcraft Bonanza was fitted with a new Continental six cylinder engine in March 2003 rated at 285 HP with a 3-bladed Hartzell propellor as well as extra fuel tanks. Because most of the flight legs average 8 to 9 hours, the pilots have conducted endurance training flights to manage their physical stamina in preparation for the flight.
