Inventor Issued Patent For Revolutionary New Wound Dressing Unique bandage is impervious to chemical and biological warfare agents Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) February 15, 2004--Local resident, Jeremy McGowan has been granted a patent for a revolutionary bandage which is impervious to chemical and biological warfare agents. Not only is this a tremendous advance for the care of soldiers and other personnel wounded in potentially chemically and/or biologically contaminated environments the astounding part is he wrote this patent himself without having a medical background.
Jeremy McGowan, the inventor of the Chem-Bio Dressing" announced today he has received a letter from the United States Patent and Trademark Office stating his new, multi-layered wound dressing, which he predicts will result in numerous saved lives in the Military and Law Enforcement communities will receive a patent. The wound dressing is impervious to chemical and biological warfare agents such as: anthrax, tabun, sarin, soman, VX gas, and numerous other lethal gases and liquids.
Mr. McGowan is currently seeking a partner in the wound care industry to manufacture the dressing for commercialization in the U.S. market, which is estimated at $2.5 billion.
The idea for this wound dressing came to me several years ago while I was in the Air Force. I was training in a simulated chemical warfare environment when I fell, ripping my protective suit and cutting my leg. Our combat medic came to my aid and put a normal bandage on my leg, then sealed it by wrapping 'duct-tape around the bandage and around the ripped chemical suit. I thought to my self there has to be a better way. So, at the end of the exercise I went home and began researching bandages, and developed this one. This bandage is impervious to chemical and biological warfare agents and has the unique ability to have the absorbent pads removed and replaced or added to without disrupting the wound healing process. It also has the ability to de-contaminate the wound. In my opinion this is one heck of a lot better than 'duct-tape."
