GeoGraphs Corporation Promotes Conservation and Internet Mapping in Mexico by working with Pronatura A.C. Noroeste

(PRWEB) February 23, 2004--GeoGraphs is proud to announce today its decision to support Pronatura Noroeste in its conservation and wildlife programs by contributing its leading edge GeoFlash software. Pronatura Noroeste is the northwestern chapter of Pronatura AC, the oldest and largest non-profit conservation NGO in Mexico. From now, the software used by Pronatura Noroeste will be GeoFlash and GeoFlash ASE.

Jose M. Beltran, GIS Manager of the Pronatura Noroeste "Center of Conservation Information" (CPIC), states that the Geoflash software will be used to make available to the public the results of our current conservation projects as well as general maps that would serve to inform and promote conservation and sustainable use of our natural resources. We know that if we can provide with scientific and accurate information synthesized in the form of maps to a wider audience through web services, we can help to better decision making. We know that a map can change people attitudes towards conservation and environmental threats."

The three first projects that Pronatura will use the leading-edge GeoFlash software are in:

1) An interactive web-based map of Bahia Magdalena, Southern Baja California, Mexico.

2) The creation of an interactive CD-ROM of the Las Californias Binational Conservation Initiative. This would have the full report of conservation efforts in the Tijuana-Tecate area, in northern Baja California, a project supported by the International Community Foundation (ICF). The results of this project will help focus conservation strategies in support of a private land conservation program in this region, to promote the preservation of green wildlife corridors and protect them from urban sprawn from Tijuana to the east. This is part of the effort to establish a binational conservation area between USA and Mexico.

3) The third project would be "Conserving Bird Habitat in Northwest Mexico", again an interactive map displaying information on birds and habitats in Pronatura Noroeste grographical scope

GeoFlash is an innovative new technology to enter into the Flash-based realm where maps become truly interactive and eye pleasing without losing any of their original attributes or accuracy. The software is not only addressed to GIS/IT professionals, but also to programmers who are familiar with Macromedia Flash and HTML.

By eliminating the Map Server in our model", states Yosri Diab, CTO and founder of GeoGraphs, we are opening internet map publishing to a wide audience of people and corporations by presenting a very cost-effective and time-saving solution" The system is data driven and simple to use. Through the use of the builder, files are generated from MapInfo MID/MIF or ESRIs Shape File into the Macromedia SWF format. Once generated, the files can be copied into a folder on a web site. Layers and/or themes, zoom, pan, query, selections, and thematic analysis are all supported by GeoFlash. This leading edge software is easy to use and is GeoGraphs most innovative product to date. GeoFlash is aimed at small to mid-sized maps and projects. A new server version is soon to be released that incorporates MySQL, PHP, and Apache, called GeoFlash Pro. GeoFlash Pro will allow for fast database connectivity, queries, and will utilize the speed and power of Flash technology.

GeoGraphs Corporation strongly supports conversation institutes through their partnership programs. These partnership programs provides software to institutes at minimal cost and still offers support, maintenance, upgrades and beta versions of new software.
