A Passion for Christ Evident in Gibsons Film Amid the mixed feelings of Mel Gibsons newly released and controversial film Passion of the Christ are the worried parents have over the violence depicted on screen. (PRWEB) February 22, 2004--As a parent and Christian, I am proud to have my children see the actual pain that Christ suffered for us. With the mixed feelings expressed by many, I wonder if the concern is so much over the violence or the religion.
Religion is presently a hot and risky topic in the public. The Ten Commandments controversy with Judge Roy Moore (Ala.) and the current issues of prayer in our schools are only a sample of what is ongoing in politics. Are we really surprised that Gibsons movie would strike a 'bad chord among the secular world of politics and the politically correct?
"This is a movie about love, hope, faith, and forgiveness. He [Jesus died for all mankind, suffered for all of us. It's time to get back to that basic message. The world has gone nuts. We could all use a little more love, faith, hope, and forgiveness." -Mel Gibson, Icon Productions
As in all things, parents should use their own judgment. After all, no one knows your child better than you. The Passions website (www.thepassionofthechrist.com) offers a preview of the trailer and scenes.
Christians will appreciate the intensity of this film as it brings to life the suffering of Christ as He gave His very life for those who persecuted Him. What would Jesus Christ do in this same situation? Would He give in to the secular view? Certainly not! Jesus would do as Gibson did --keep on filming. Kudos Mel!
