Computing Technology Industry Association to Offer Virtual Training Certification

Virtual classroom trainer module added to CompTIA CTT+

Oakbrook Terrace, Ill. (PRWEB) July 1, 2008 -- The Computing Technology Industry Association (www.comptia.org) (CompTIA), the leading provider of vendor-neutral certifications for the world’s technology workforce, today announced it will expand its CompTIA CTT+ certification to include a module for virtual classroom trainers.

The CompTIA CTT+ virtual classroom trainer module is scheduled to launch in August, giving candidates the option to be certified as a Classroom Trainer or Virtual Classroom Trainer.

CompTIA CTT+ certification recognizes excellence in instruction. It is a vendor-neutral certification that is applicable to training professionals in all industries. With the new online trainer module, instructors and trainers can prove their ability to train effectively in a virtual classroom environment using online collaboration tools such as Adobe Acrobat® Connect™ Pro, Elluminate®, Microsoft NetMeeting, and others.

Currently, CompTIA CTT+ candidates must pass two tests to earn the certification: a high-stakes computer-based test followed by a performance, video-based assessment.

Candidates interested in earning the Classroom Trainer designation will continue to take the computer-based test and the performance, video-based assessment.

Beginning in August, candidates interested in the Virtual Classroom Trainer designation will combine the computer-based exam with a recorded online training session assessment.

Instructors and trainers can earn both the Classroom Trainer and the Virtual Classroom Trainer designations by passing all three elements: the computer-based test, video-based assessment and online training assessment.

CompTIA CTT+ certification validates a trainer’s mastery of core instructor skills, including preparation, presentation, communication, facilitation, and evaluation in a classroom environment.

“Companies that have trainers on staff require them to hold and keep instructional certification and the CompTIA CTT+ is the most widely recognized of the certifications,” said Rusty Cooper, program manager and trainer at the Texas Engineering Extension Service. “If you want to have a training position in the industry you must be certified.”
