When a critical global outbreak of a new virus appears on the Internet, Network Boxs service centers are immediately warned" by virtue of its Network Boxes which effectively detect the attack and respond immediately vis-à-vis sending alerts back to the support centers. Network Box Support Centers will then instantly suspend email systems of all its clients until such time that relevant signatures are available.

Mark Webb-Johnson, Lead Architect and creator of the Network Box, explains, On average, it takes about 30 minutes for anti-virus technicians to analyze the threat, then create and test the signatures to block it. During this time, particularly in the case of fast emerging threats [such as the latest Mydoom, clients are still very vulnerable to attacks and infection. That is why we created the new Red Alert Button feature - to sustain client protection whilst investigations to create the appropriate signatures are in progress. Typically the suspension of email systems will last less than an hour and will immediately be lifted once signatures are released. Such a suspension occurs only in the case of a critical global outbreak and only at alert condition 5 **, and only for clients who have previously given permission for this feature to be used on their box. Obviously, this is a last-resort disaster-avoidance measure.
