A N Ahuja conferred with EFY Lifetime Achievement Award

Mr. A N Ahuja, Founder and President, Ahuja Radios has been conferred with The Lifetime Achievement Award at the inaugural EFY Awards. Leading corporates associated with the electronics and allied sectors were felicitated for their outstanding contributions to the industry at the recently concluded EFY Awards in New Delhi. In the consumer electronics manufacturing business since 1940, Ahuja Radios introduced the first Public Address Systems in India. Within a decade, Ahuja Public Address Systems on account of their excellent performance and absolute reliability become very popular all over India. After having achieved an enviable position in domestic markets, Ahuja Radios in 1952 started exporting their products, thus earning the distinction of being the first exporter in India in the field of Consumer Electronics. Currently the largest manufacturers and exporters of Public Address Systems/ Equipments, the company has been ranked as the top exporter in the consumer Electronics segment for the Year 2000-2001 and 2001-2002.

To expand its export markets, Mr. A.N. Ahuja established a 100 percent Export Oriented Unit, at SEEPZ, Bombay, in 1976. Matching up the ever-growing demand in overseas markets for professional audio mixers, the second 100 percent export oriented unit at SEEPZ, Bombay was established in 1989.

To Mr. A. N. Ahuja also goes the credit for establishing the companys own research and development center, accredited by Department of Science and Technology, Government of India in 1976. This was at time when this activity was non-existent in private sector in India. Some of Ahuja products have been certified by UL, CSA, NEMCO and most recently CE for Electro Magnetic Compatibility.

Today, Ahuja Group is ranked amongst the top manufacturers of Public Address Systems/Equipments in the world. Their products are selling in over 50 countries with major share of exports to Europe and USA. The Ahuja brand enjoys an excellent reputation in these countries and is sold in competition with other international brands.

The methodology and process of the award was designed by eTechnology Group@IMRB, IMRB International. The agency has immense experience in formulation of respectable awards in the industry, viz., NASSCOM IT User award, PC Quest User Choice award, DQCI Channels Awards, etc.

The entire process of the awards nominations and scrutiny was totally transparent. A team of eminent personalities including Wg Cmmdr Khanna - Secy. General, CETMA, Sh. Raju Goel - Secy. General, ELCINA, Dr. RC Chopra - Sr. Director, Ministry of Information Technology and Mr. Bhupendra Mathur - Sr. VP and Country manager, IMRB comprised the jury.

First of their kind in Indian industry, the EFY awards spanned across thirty different categories. Apart from the Lifetime Achievement award, the other two special categories awards viz. Electronics Man of the Year and Electronics Organization of the Year were conferred upon Mr. B. S. Sethia of Elin Electronics and Reliance Infocomm respectively. The jury members laid down parameters for evaluation of the nominations in each of the special categories. In lines with the prescribed parameters and mutual consensus arrived by the jury team, winner for each of these three categories was drawn.
