MyStudentBody.com STDs showcases study results at National STD Prevention Conference MyStudentBody.com (MSB) is a subscription-based online college health suite developed by Inflexxion®, Inc., was accepted to showcase their most recent research study results about Sexually Transimitted Diseases at the 2004 National STD Conference in Philadelphia PA. NEWTON, MA (PRWEB) March 11, 2004 --- Dr. Sarah Lord, Director of College Health Programs at Inflexxion®, Inc., will host a poster presentation detailing the results of an efficacy study for MyStudentBody.com STDs (MSB-STDs) at this weeks 2004 National STD Prevention Conference in Philadelphia, PA. Developed with support from the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), MSB-STDs incorporates scientific principles shown to be associated with behavioral change, including motivational enhancement, individualized feedback, and social norms education, into an online STD prevention and sexual health education program directed at college-aged students.
Featuring engaging interactive tools, flash animation peer stories, and student-friendly informational pieces, MSB-STDs was tested in a randomized, controlled clinical trial with 316 students drawn from seven representative 4-year colleges. The sample was diverse in terms of racial and cultural backgrounds, sexual orientation, and gender. Compared to students in controlled conditions (text-based website and no treatment), students who used MSB-STDs exhibited significantly greater increases in STD- and condom- specific knowledge, intentions to practice safer sex, improved attitudes about condoms, and self-efficacy for negotiating safer sex with a partner.
