Each day, SMS.ac surveys its global mobile membership on a variety of topics via the Companys web site and through opted-in user handsets. Each survey question typically garners between 35,000 and 45,000 respondents that can be sorted by location, gender and age.

SAN DIEGO, CA (PRWEB) March 13, 2004--80.8 percent of 41,417 mobile phone users that responded to a recent one-day SMS.ac poll said they want a handset that also takes photographs. This and other results were disclosed today by the world leader in mobile data communications, SMS.ac, Inc. Todays SMS.ac poll is viewable at www.sms.ac.

Only 28.8 percent of 35,770 respondents to a February 2004 poll stated that they currently use a mobile phone with built-in camera. Yet, in a follow-up question, 68.2 percent of 35,256 participants claimed that when they purchase their next handset, it will include a built-in camera.

In April 2003, as the U.S. and its allies were at war with Iraq, SMS.ac conducted a poll that queried mobile phone users from 50 countries. 74.4% of those surveyed strongly agreed" or somewhat agreed" that Iraq would be a better country when Saddam Hussein was removed from a leadership position. That poll, which the Company believes is the largest of its kind in history, garnered 107,844 responses that were delivered through the SMS.ac web site and via mobile phones across approximately 125 mobile networks, in less than three hours.

We asked a portion of our consumer base for their reaction to the conflict in Iraq," said Michael Pousti, chairman and chief executive officer of SMS.ac. We sent text messages to their mobile phones in the 50 target countries and respondents were able to reply to us directly from their mobile devices."

A more recent March 2004 poll that attracted 36,769 responses revealed that 78.6 percent of participants want to listen to near-CD quality music using their mobile devices. 16.3 percent were not interested in that functionality and 5.1 were unsure. In a related survey, 59.3 percent of 35,256 participants said they would be more likely to purchase music if they could first hear a CD-quality sample on their mobile device. 25 percent replied that this was not of interest, while 15.7 were uncertain.
