The National Association for the Visually Handicapped Receives a $28,000 Anniversary Gift from Optelec

Optelec US, Inc. has presented the National Association for the Visually Handicapped (NAVH) with a donation of 150 portable magnifiers in honor of the organizations 50th anniversary. The Handiview units, valued at more than $28,000 dollars, can be attached to any television and magnify text and photos up to 20 times, enabling those with low vision to read again.

Chelmsford, MA (PRWEB) March 14, 2004 -- Optelec US, Inc. announced today that it has presented the National Association for the Visually Handicapped (NAVH) with a donation of 150 portable magnifiers in honor of the organizations 50th anniversary.

The Handiview units, valued at more than $28,000 dollars, are illuminated stand magnifiers with integrated cameras. The units can be attached to any television and magnify text and photos up to 20 times, enabling those with low vision to read again. This donation will enable NAVH to put the power to see in the hands of people who could otherwise not afford this type of advanced technology.

Dr. Marchi founded NAVH 50 years ago in order to provide textbooks for visually impaired youth. Today NAVH houses the nations largest, free by mail, lending library of large print books. NAVH also assists people with low vision by providing access to a variety of low vision aids ranging from hand magnifiers to talking watches and lighting solutions.
