Crank Yankers put the 'Hell In Hello Are you one of the millions of TV fans ready to move to Yankerville? Comedy show features real crank" phone calls. (PRWEB) March 14, 2004--Crank Yankers" is a new show on the Comedy Central cable network that features outrageous crank calls from real comedians to real people, portrayed through puppets -- imagine Sesame Street" all grown up and demented! Now you can wear a t-shirt to show off your favorite character on the show.
Fans are not only tunning in, they are collecting an assortment of t-shirts depicting Crank Yankers" characters. Its a great way to show the world you love to laugh at life," said Bill Broadbent of http://TShirtKing.com.
The show pushes the envelope of taboos and censorship as viewers eavesdrop on the puppet citizens of Yankerville while they go about their daily lives. The relationships and interactions between the puppets are all based on the recorded audio from the real crank phone calls and the dialogue that was exchanged during these calls. You've got to see it to believe it," said Broadbent.
Crank calls were once a part of growing up, but in this age of caller ID the art form has subsided, according to co-host of the show Jimmy Kimmel, who wants to inspire young people to revive this spontaneous comedic art form.
"Crank calls are our nation's most valuable and abundant untapped comedy resource," says Kimmel.
"The phone is a great, great tool for abuse," says co-host Adam Corolla. "I am worried that today's kids don't utilize it that way. They use it to - oh, I don't know - converse."
Fans of the show love the t-shirts from http://TShirtKing.com for the same reason they love the show itself -- the great list of comedic talent who lend their voices to record the variety of absurdly provoking crank phone calls.
Our t-shirts remind fans of the great crank calls on the show. Like the eternally funny Tracy Morgan as Spoonie Luv, a trash-talking lover who calls a flower shop clerk to order roses and asks the florist to include an insane love note written to his 'cheatin' ho'. Wanda Sykes voices Gladys Murphy and calls a state prison to volunteer herself for conjugal visits with random inmates. David Alan Grier plays Danny, a puppet who constantly vomits. Dave Chappelle calls as the manager of the Wu Tang Clan and tries to arrange accommodations with the god-fearing owner of a bed and breakfast. And Stephen Colbert calls a phone-sex line so he can translate the call for his hearing impaired friend," explained Broadbent.
"The reason crank calls are a tried-and-true comedic device is because they are spontaneous," says Kimmel. "I think people like that. Even a crank call that is not funny is entertaining to listen to. Also there is an unwitting victim who oftentimes gets mad. That's always funny."
One segment titled, "Batman Nemesis," has a man dressed in a silly arch-villain costume while calling information to earnestly find the location of Batman's hideout. Another segment features Special Ed, the bicycle-helmeted idiot who loves repetition where he calls a travel agent and yells over and over, "I want to go to Hawaii, yeah!"
I think we can all relate to that one," said Broadbent.
