Harrods drops royal warrants but gains Imperial Mark

After the loss of it's Royal Warrants, Harrods the luxury retailer is believed to be in the running to gain an Imperial Mark.

(PRWEB) Marach 18 2004--Retailer Watch today confirmed that Harrods was a strong favourite to gain an Imperial Mark.

In December 2000, Harrods severed its commercial links with the Royal Family by removing warrants from its prestigious shop front.

The royal seal of approval was also removed from the store's vans, marking the end of a 62-year tradition.

All Harrods packaging and stationery were redesigned and all vehicles which displayed the warrants have been repainted.

If Harrods does gain an Imperial Mark it will be yet another symbol of the growing reputation of the store, which has recently opened additional stores around the country.

The Imperial Mark, which itself started life as a Royal Warrant, is believed to be for a number of the product ranges, rather the store as a whole.

Both Harrods and the Imperial Mark Commission declined to comment.
