The Enemy - Official Selection at 2004 Slap Film Festival ÂThe Enemy, the second digital motion picture written and directed by award winning writer, Dean J. Augustin, has been selected for screening at the 2004 SLAP Film Festival, April 7th through April 10th. (PRWEB) March 18, 2004 Plano, Texas,(PRWEB) March 18, 2004  ÂThe Enemy, the second digital motion picture written and directed by award winning writer, Dean J. Augustin, has been selected for screening at the 2004 SLAP Film Festival, April 7th through April 10th. The SLAP Film Festival is an annual film festival that runs out of the University of Utah (Salt Lake City, UT). The festival is made possible by the efforts of the Asian American Student Association (AASA) with help from the Pacific Islander's Student Association (PISA) at the University. The acronym SLAP stands for Salt Lake Asian Pacific. The goal of the SLAP Film Festival is to not only create more awareness of the Asian Pacific film industry but to also let the public have fun and watch free films. ÂItÂs truly an honor to be included in the SLAP Film Festival, says Augustin. ÂEvery year independent film is becoming more Âdependent on distribution controlled by major studios. Without festivals like the SLAP Film Festival work like mine may never be seen by the public, according to the award-winning writer. ÂIt will be interesting to see the audience reaction, according to Augustin. ÂMy film deals with a very difficult subject for many Asian Americans. From the Rape of Nanking to the interment of Japanese Americans, ÂThe Enemy, explores the unique parallels between the Citizens of the Empire of Japan, and Japanese Americans during the Second World War. Using archive film footage, and original audio recordings, The Good Fight  Digital Motion Pictures recreates the hysteria and fear surrounding Âthe enemy. ÂThe Enemy was created on a desktop computer using over-the-counter video editing software. The 33-minute documentary was produced entirely from Internet sources. ÂI was looking for a fusion of technology with the Âroots of independent film and video, says the Plano, Texas, based filmmaker. ÂA simple production that entertains a wide audience. MORE INFORMATION Dean J. Augustin is an award winning Texas based writer and director.
