Guitar Center Announces the Arrival of the 2008 Les Paul Standard and Les Paul Traditional Electric Guitars

They incorporate time-honored Gibson Les Paul features along with modern upgrades including precision fretwork performed on Gibson's Plek machines, computer-controlled devices that scan and adjust the instrument's neck to achieve perfect fretwork.

Having debuted in 1952, the Les Paul Standard was Gibson's first solidbody guitar and helped pave the way for future solidbodies. The latest innovations were released July 1 and are available for preorder. The Gibson 2008 Les Paul Standard Electric Guitar (Gibson 2008 Les Paul Standard Plus Electric Guitar has a hand-carved figured maple top. The necks on both guitars are crafted from a single piece of mahogany functioning as a single unit with the body. Both instruments have two BurstBucker Pro pickups containing Alnico V magnets wound to vintage specs and with wax potting deliver original "Patent Applied For" tone, and a matched chambered mahogany back outlined with single-ply binding. Their asymmetrical shape is lauded as the most comfortable neck offered on a Les Paul Standard Guitar.
