Morrissey Goodale LLC, which specializes in merger & acquisition advisory services for A/E firms, tracked 262 deals in the industry in 2007. The firm maintains a current list of deals on its website and has now added an interactive map to highlight geographic trends in A/E M&A activity.

In 2007, deal volume was at an all-time high-- about 30% ahead of 2006. The map reveals a significant number of deals in California as well as Texas and Florida-- all states that are experiencing the greatest increases in population. The Manufacturing Belt and the Northeast also saw strong M&A activity, despite relatively weaker population growth.
