BRYCE WILSON AND CHRYSTALE WILSON STAR IN ROB HARDYÂS ROMANTIC THRILLER TO BE RELEASED FEBRUARY 11, 2000
TROIS
ATLANTA, GA (January 3, 2000) Â Mounting one of the most comprehensive independent theatrical campaigns in Black cinema history, Rainforest Productions will release the romantic thriller Trois, starring Kenya Moore, Gary Dourdan and Gretchen Palmer on February 11, 2000. The film will initially premiere in top urban markets including Chicago, Atlanta, Houston, Miami, Birmingham, Nashville, Cleveland and Charlotte, among others.
Best known for his roles as the dreadlocked dream Shazza Zulu on A Different World and Anthony on the acclaimed HBO series Laurel Avenue, Gary Dourdan plays Jermaine Davis, a successful lawyer who longs to engage in a wild rendezvous with his wife, Jasmine. Jasmine Davis is played by Kenya Moore, the stunning former Miss USA who has been featured in Waiting To Exhale and Senseless. Gretchen Palmer of Master PÂs I Got The Hook-up plays local beauty and single mother, Jade, who eventually joins the couple to make a threesome that none of them will ever forget. The film also stars Chrystale Wilson (The Players Club), Bryce Wilson (R&B Duo Groove Theory), Thom Byrd (Get On The Bus, He Got Game) and Soloman K. Smith (Strapped, Married with Children).
Trois is the second feature film by director Rob Hardy and Rainforest Productions. The first feature by the Atlanta-based director and production team was Chocolate City, released independently in 1998.
ÂWe, at Rainforest Productions, have consciously decided to pursue our art through independent means. Building on the foundation we laid with Chocolate City, our latest film Trois will appeal to movie fans who love thrillers and suspense with a sensual twist, explained director Rob Hardy. ÂWe are looking to the African-American community for their continued support of independent Black filmmaking in general, and for Trois specifically.Â
ÂWe will release Trois nationwide on our own terms because we recognize that no one knows and understands our audience better than we do. We are aiming to make independent cinema history with the success of this film, said producer William Packer. ÂLike the great African-American film pioneer Oscar Micheaux before us, we too will carry the torch for a fresh wave of filmmakers in the new millenium, stated co-producer Gregory Anderson.
Trois will be supported by an extensive marketing campaign to include concentrated national advertising and publicity, as well as grassroots promotional efforts. The filmÂs website can be accessed at http://www.trois-themovie.com.
