Wonderfalls Producer Releases 'An Open Letter To Viewers Tim Minear, executive producer of the FOX series WONDERFALLS, tries to spread the word about the new series with a grassroots marketing campaign. Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) March 21, 2004--In a bold and unusual move, Tim Minear, executive producer of the highly acclaimed new FOX series WONDERFALLS (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT, Fridays), is reaching out to potential viewers with An Open Letter" on his official Web site, TimMinear.net.
In the letter, Minear, whose credits include Angel," Lois & Clark," and the highly acclaimed yet short-lived FOX series Firefly," calls on members of the online genre communities, whom he calls a huge untapped resource," to spread the word about his new show. WONDERFALLS stars Caroline Dhavernas as Jaye Tyler, a college graduate working at a Niagara Falls gift shop who questions her sanity when inanimate objects begin talking to her and issuing instructions. The March 12 debut of the series finished fourth in the Nielsen hourly ratings.
An excerpt of the letter, which can be found in its entirety at http://www.timminear.net, follows:
Hi. My name is Tim Minear and I write television. Usually. Right now I guess Im writing SPAM. But Im not asking you to donate to some shady or even worthy cause. Im not offering to enlarge any of your body parts (though I havent ruled it out), and I make no claims of miraculous cures for exotic diseases. What I can offer you is sixty minutes (really about forty five, minus commercials) of quality entertainment if you do one thing: turn on your TV to Fox this Friday night at nine.
For the last year or so Ive been working with a bunch of really talented people to make a new show for Fox called Wonderfalls." Weve made 13 episodes so far, and I really want you to see them."
WONDERFALLS has received widespread critical praise for its fresh, creative take on the dramedy format. TV Guides Matt Roush declared, Ironic and romantic, WONDERFALLS is a true original. Surrender to its charms." Entertainment Weeklys Ken Tucker called it, a revelation - a blessing, even.... Each of the four episodes Ive seen is better than the one preceding it." Robert Lloyd of the Los Angeles Times wrote, WONDERFALLS is so well done, so fresh and unpredictable, and so little in thrall to conventional virtues as to make the weary reviewer prostrate with joy... everything clicks here."
WONDERFALLS is produced by 20th Century Fox Television and Regency Television. The series was created by Bryan Fuller (Dead Like Me") and Todd Holland ("Malcolm in the Middle"), and is executive-produced by Fuller, Holland and Minear.
