World Participation at Miss Latin America Pageant in Punta Cana

The Miss Latin America Pageant (known worldwide as "Miss America Latina") invites countries across the world to send delegates to the annual competition being held this year in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Originally the event was open only to women from the Americas and Spain, but now any country can send their "Hispanic" delegate just as the United States has been doing since 1983.

Miami, FL (PRWEB) March 26, 2004 -- The Barcelo Bavaro Beach Resort in Punta Cana will be host from October 17 to 31, 2004 to beautiful Latina women from around the world competing for the title of "Miss America Latina 2005." The annual event for single women between the ages of 18 and 25 of Latin American or Iberian origin will feature a musical extravaganza produced for broadcast from the Barcelo Bavaro Convention Center on October 30th.

Originally a "continental" competition for women living in the American continent and Spain, the Miss Latin America Pageant now accepts candidates of Iberian or Latin American origin residing in any country in the world, in recognition of their contribution to expanding this culture globally. Last year saw the first entrant from the United Kingdom, Daniela Martins, who placed third in the competition. Holland will send their first delegate to compete in Punta Cana.

This is the fifth consecutive year the Spanish hotel chain Barcelo Hotels & Resorts hosts this international event that last November crowned Puerto Rico's Gamalis Fermin in Cancun. Another Barcelo Caribbean resort is site again for the crowning by Miss Fermin of her successor.
