Military Strategy Means Success for the Legal Mind Kurt Schlichter, South Bay attorney, Army veteran and passionate scholar of military strategy, offers his insight into the value of strategic thinking in the legal setting and will be inducted as a guest speaker to local speakers bureau in April. Redondo Beach, CA (PRWEB) March 27, 2004--Kurt Schlichter, the South Bay attorney is best recognized as a founding partner and principal trial counsel of Gunderson, Schlichter, Shonack & Handel, LLP of Manhattan Beach (www.gssh.com).
What is a lesser known fact is that this successful attorney is also a major in the California Army National Guard, a graduate of the elite Army Airborne School, and a veteran of the Persian Gulf War. Hence his personal interest and passion for the study of military strategy and its application in the field of law.
The attorney who is a strategist is really seeing the larger picture when pursuing a legal course of action," he explains. When youre an army officer and in Operations, what you bring to the legal profession are an extra set of skills, because you are able to proceed with the final objective in mind. You practice thinking ahead and war gaming and are thus, continuously assessing competing courses of action," Schlichter says.
Kurt Andrew Schlichter has had his works published frequently in nationally recognized publications, including The Los Angeles Times, The Boston Globe and The San Francisco Examiner. His litigation strategy and legal analysis articles have also been regularly published in legal publications such as the Los Angeles Daily Journal. He has served as a news source and an on-screen commentator on both military and legal issues, and notably, he has published the only major law review article on the legal issues regarding military participation in civilian law enforcement operations.
What cannot be overlooked is that, above all, the military strategist is able to incorporate the clients intent in the courses of action. These are determined and finally guided by the clients intent," he concludes.
Schlichter is a graduate of Loyola Law School and his undergraduate degree is from the University of California, San Diego. He began his legal career with the firm now known as Grace, Genson, Cosgrove & Schirm, where his practice focused on insurance defense, representing both insurer and insured in civil litigation, including products liability, bad faith and personal injury claims. His clients included major automobile manufacturers, retailers, and insurers and his current practice focuses on the defense and prosecution of civil actions, for and against major corporations and individuals. Of particular interest are cases involving intentional torts such as defamation and malicious prosecution.
And pursuing his passion, Schlichter also consults with non-litigation counsel regarding trial tactics and strategy. This brilliant attorney has won an individual a $3.05 million defamation judgment and successfully defended a nationally known bank against a multi-million dollar lender liability claim. His appellate work includes practice before the District Courts of Appeal and the California Supreme Court.
We welcome Kurt Schlichter as a distinguished guest speaker as of April, in recognition of his career success and his unique and valuable contribution to the legal field," says Leonor McCall-Rodriguez of Best Keynote Speakers (www.bestkeynotespeakers.com), by Mira Promo, Inc., a California Hispanic business and marketing agency.
