The Domestics and Pie are organizing the first of several Rock for Art events, choosing art education as a focus that has been largely ignored by current mainstream rock arenas. "The worlds of music and art have always been integrated," explains Alina Moscovitz, lead singer and guitar player of The Domestics, "We need to sustain that connection through the notion that music and art offer hope - especially, as Free Arts demonstrates, in dire circumstances like growing up with abuse."

Free Arts For more information, please contact Elizabeth Sawyer at 212-974-9092 Free Arts NYC is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing the healing powers of the arts into the lives of at-risk children and their families. Through painting, dance, drama, writing, music, sculpture, photography and other outlets of creativity, Free Arts volunteers help children and families express emotions, gain self-confidence and develop positive methods of communication.
P.I.E. A new-wave/pop-punk girl band with hard-hitting drums and fiercely melodic guitar licks, Pie has appeared on bills with Tracy + The Plastics, LP, Triple Creme, and shared the stage with Sophie B. Hawkins at last years Jersey Pride. They will appear at the upcoming Ladyfest East and will lead a tour of major colleges and universities.
Stupid Stupid has been compared by the Village Voice, Punk Planet and other publications to bands like X, Fugazi and Pixies. Led by singer/punk-accordionist Dana Ehrlich (who has been compared to Chrissie Hynde on speed), their live shows have become staples of the New York-based punk and garage rock renaissance, complete with mind-bending performances and homemade FU cookies. Stupid is also featured on the Jimmy Neutron film soundtrack as well as the independent feature Devils Are Dreaming. www.stupidband.com
The Domestics If Debbie Harry ever shoved her way on stage at an Op Ivy show, this is what itd sound like. With lyrics that cover everything from eating disorders to circus performers, The Domestics pulse with pop-punk energy and tunes you can walk away humming. Former members of Bionic Finger, The Rosenbergs, Conquistador and Laurel Suspended have come together in all of their apron wearing, drum pounding, string thumping glory to play NYC hot spots and record the debut EP Tight Spot in 2003. "The Domestics' lead singer will probably never escape easy comparison to No Doubt's Gwen Stefani, but with jumpy pop-punk tunes like "Anorexic Love Song", Moscovitz makes it clear she's in it for the irony." -Time Out NY
The Assault This female trios unique combo of garage, folk, power pop, and classic rock has been leaving audiences astounded, and a little aroused. Some have described their "raw and unpretentious" sound as "if The Smiths & B-52s had a baby." They are undeniably fun and raucous, equal parts intelligent and infantile. They released their debut EP in July 2003.
