Music Industry Veteran Cary Baker Launches New Music Publicity Company: Conqueroo

SHERMAN OAKS, CA (PRWEB) April 12, 2004 --- Cary Baker, a music industry publicity executive for more than 20 years, has announced the launch of his new music publicity company, Conqueroo. The new Los Angeles-based company will represent such artists and projects as J.J. Cale, Gingersol, Robert Earl Keen, Anne McCue, James McMurtry, Vernon Reid, Chris Stamey, Tres Chicas, Ponderosa Stomp and the Americana Music Association Conference plus more to follow.

Baker leaves The Baker Media Group, where he was a founding partner. He previously served as VP of Publicity at Capitol Records, I.R.S. Records, Discovery Records and Morgan Creek Records. He has spearheaded publicity campaigns for R.E.M., Bonnie Raitt, Shelby Lynne, Delbert McClinton, Caitlin Cary, Susan Tedeschi, Anne McCue, Willard Grant Conspiracy and many more.

Baker has also worked as a music journalist and album annotator, and has instructed the Publicity in the Music Industry" course at UCLA Extension since 1987. He has been a voting member of the Recording Academy since 1979, and has served on the Los Angeles and Chicago chapters of the Board of Governors. He sits on the Board of Directors of both the Americana Music Association and Blues Music Association, and on the Music Industry Executive Steering Committee of City of Hope.
