SurfSafely.com founder Mark Brasche shares spotlight at Internet Safety town meeting.

Westchester County takes proactive measures to combat Internet predators.

Burlington, CT (PRWEB) April 4, 2004--News Channel 12 wrapped up their latest series on Internet predators this evening at Manhattanville College in Purchase New York this evening by organizing and promoting a live televised town meeting style workshop for the public. Sharing the stage with other noted experts in the field of online safety was Mark Brasche, founder and CEO of SurfSafely.com.

Media support is a key ingredient in helping to attract an audience who will listen and then apply what they've learned at sessions such as this. "It's important for the media to devote some of their resources toward community projects such as this", said Mr. Brasche. "News 12 is to be commended for their continued commitment to their audience through efforts such as these."

This was not the first time News 12 had tapped Mr. Brasche's expertise in this field. In May, 2000 he also appeared on their program Daytime Edition shortly following the release of his first book Child Safety-Net. "It's always a joy to be of service. Working with the News 12 team only makes it more so."

With Internet predators on the rise, so too must be efforts to thwart their activities. Through a sting operation organized by the New Your District Attorneys office spearheaded by Jeanine Pirro, Westchester county police have successfully captured almost 90 Internet predators, a large percentage of whom have found permanent residence behind bars.

Mr. Brasche concluded "Now that some of the laws governing online activities have sharper teeth, we're seeing more local law enforcement getting involved in tackling online crime and succeeding. One workshop at a time, one family at a time, one criminal at a time, were winning the war against cyber-crime. It's a war we can't afford to lose."
