McMenamins Pub at Hotel Oregon Hosts Benefit For High School Seniors Announcement on upcoming McMinnville High School Grad Night benefit at McMenamins Hotel Oregon in McMinnville on April 12, 2004. McMinnville, OR (PRWEB) April 7, 2004 -- Enjoy a good meal and do a good deed at the same time on Monday, April 12, at a McMinnville High School Grad Night Fundraiser at McMenamins Pub in the Hotel Oregon in McMinnville.
From 5 until 11 p.m. April 12, McMenamins will donate 50 percent of all food and beverage purchased at their McMinnville location to MHS High Grad Night 2004. The Fundraiser is good for food and beverage purchases only.
"Our volunteers work hard to raise funds for the seniors," added Sherry Toliver, Co-chair for the 2004 Grad Night Committee. "All year long, we do projects from car washes and raffles to bottle returns and selling flowers. McMenamins has given us a way to put some fun into the fundraising and we are very, very grateful."
"We are absolutely on board for this project," added Mike Duggan, Property Manager at McMenamins Pub at at 310 NE Evans Street. "We like to help schools and be part of the communities that McMenamins serve."
McMinnville High School's Grad Night is run by volunteers with the help of numerous business sponsors, all of whom see the project as a community "gift" to the graduating seniors. Details are kept a secret until the time the students step onto the bus just hours after receiving their diplomas.
Communities across the country have been sponsoring Grad Night events since the 1980s as a safe and sober alternative to unchaperoned parties. Statistics show that the night after a student graduates can be the most dangerous due to underage drinking, reckless driving and fatalities.
The dusk to dawn celebration includes adult chaperones, transportation, entertainment, dinner, snacks and breakfast. Tickets for the McMinnville High School event help defray the costs of planning a party for the estimated 400-plus students who attend. Scholarships are also available, Toliver said.
"We make sure that all the student might bring that evening is possibly a light jacket," she added.
