She is best known as the lead vocalist for Machito and his Afro-Cuban Jazz Orchestra from 1943 through the '70's. Candido has collaborated with almost all of the great jazz masters, including Clark Terry, Dinah Washington, Charlie Parker, Duke Ellington, Lionel Hampton, Mongo Santamaria, Buddy Rich, Dizzy Gillespie and Tito Puente.
