X2Net Limited announces the release of X2Net SmartBoard V4, the latest version of the popular time saving utility that enhances the capabilities of the Windows clipboard. This major revision provides significant new functionality including full multi-user capability and a completely revamped user interface.

X2Net SmartBoard's basic function is to extend the data storage capabilities of the Windows clipboard, storing multiple items even across a Windows restart. All clipboard formats are supported. Captured clipboard items can be organised using the familiar folder and subfolder concept.

X2Net SmartBoard provides many simple ways to locate and paste items back into any application with a minimum number of keystrokes or mouse clicks, usually without even having to use the target application's own Paste command.

X2Net SmartBoard is the ideal repository for commonly used "boilerplate" text items such as standard responses to customer enquiries; skeleton programming code; web site passwords etc. Replaceable fields (templates) can be defined in text items to be changed at each use, ideal for customer names and salutations for example.

Drag and drop from X2Net SmartBoard is supported, providing the receiving application also supports it. System wide hotkeys can be associated with captured clip items, allowing the data to be entered in the target application with just a single keystroke. Alternatively, a Paste-Anyplace™ menu can be popped up with just a single keystroke or mouse-click and captured text items selected from a familiar hierarchical menu structure. The selected item is then automatically inserted in whatever application you are working in.

Access to clip items is also available inside Microsoft Internet Explorer itself thanks to the new Explorer Bar that X2Net SmartBoard adds, ideal for web site passwords and similar data.

Multi-user capability is built-in. You can elect to share clipboard data with other users at the folder level. X2Net SmartBoard is ideal for use in a Windows Terminal Server environment where a single install can provide extensive clipboard data handling and sharing capabilities for all remote users.

X2Net SmartBoard also has spell checking; syntax highlighting; speech; text reformatting; clip analysis; rule processing and a host of other features that make dealing with all forms of data quick and easy.

X2Net SmartBoard's capabilities can be extended using scripts written in any popular scripting language including VBScript, Jscript, Perl, Python, TCL and others. A few sample scripts are supplied which add useful functionality including stripping HTML tags from text; adding up columns of figures and more. Uses for add-on scripts are limited only by the user's imagination.

X2Net SmartBoard will run on Windows 95, 98, ME, NT4, 2000, XP or Server 2003. Remote connection to Windows Terminal Server is supported. Some advanced features are Operating System dependent.
