Shamanic Artwork The Focus Of International Exhibition

Curators, Susanne Iles and Patrick Byrne, of the International Juried Online Symbolist Art Show announce 38 finalists in the 2004 exhibit, "The Artist As Shaman". The show opens May 1, 2004, at http://www.dracoblu.com/symbolistshow.html. First-, second- and third-place winners will also be named, and share $2,000 in cash prizes.

(PRWEB) April 21, 2004 -- Curators, Susanne Iles and Patrick Byrne, of the International Juried Online Symbolist Art Show announce 38 finalists in the 2004 exhibit, "The Artist As Shaman". The show opens May 1, 2004, at http://www.dracoblu.com/symbolistshow.html . First-, second- and third-place winners will also be named, and share $2,000 in cash prizes.

More than 300 entries from artists representing 19 countries included painting, printmaking, photography, drawing, etching, collage, fibre, sculpture, and digital works of art. The 38 juried finalists are as follows (name, city/country of residence, artwork title):

The distinguished jury for the 2004 exhibition included: Steve Danzig, Australian digital artist and Director of the International Digital Art Awards, Mark Wagner, an accomplished digital and traditional American artist, and Wedlidi Speck, a First Nations storyteller, artist and addictions counsellor from Canada. The final member of the jury, Teri Degler, an award-winning writer from Toronto, Canada, had this to say about the artworks juried, They were technically well executed; they had rich symbolic meaning, and their imagery was powerful enough to haunt me long after I had finished looking at the work itself...."
