More information is available at www.the7brothers.com. (PRWEB) April 23, 2004 -- Waterbury native Edward Weathers returns home from Los Angeles to begin filming "The Seven Brothers of Waterbury" this summer. The original screenplay combines high drama and low humor with a comic book twist. Set in and around Waterbury, CT, the film is an homage to the Brass City and to the creative influences of Weathers' childhood, namely cartoons and Star Wars. It made sense to come home to make this film, where I could work with the people and places that inspired the story. We dont have any Hollywood constraints, we have absolute freedom to be creative," says Weathers.
A graduate of Southern Connecticut State University's theatre program, Ed has been developing scripts and short films since the age of 15. "The Seven Brothers of Waterbury" marks his first feature-length story to be produced.
A blend of genres, the story is along the lines of The Watchmen comic meets the South Park movie meets Barton Fink. The plot follows seven friends and brothers on their adventures through Waterbury, helping the new mayor shrug off the taint of incumbents past, keeping community theater alive, avoiding a hired assassin, and going into battle against every artist's most feared and hated nemesis - the critic.
Weathers' goal is to have a competition-worthy film for submission to independent film festivals. I want to be able to say, 'Look at how much I did with what little I had. Its something we all want to be proud of." Financed entirely through fundraising and ingenuity, production on "The Seven Brothers of Waterbury" begins in early June. A fundraising benefit is being held Saturday, April 24 at the Milford, CT VFW; all proceeds go directly to the production.
