Herndon, VA (PRWEB) August 13, 2008 -- Secure Elements (http://www.secure-elements.com), an industry leader in standards-based IT audit and compliance management, today announced that the company has released a new version of the C5 Compliance Platform capable of auditing and managing EPA ENERGY STAR settings for Windows XP and Vista for Desktop and Laptop configurations consistent with the NIST Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP). The C5 Compliance Platform is currently used by the Presidential Management Agenda (PMA) Scorecard Agencies for reporting their FDCC Security Settings to OMB. These agencies are now able to use C5 to audit and manage their power savings settings within the same compliance solution, thereby complying with Executive Order 13423, which requires federal agencies to activate ENERGY STAR "sleep" features on computers and monitors.

"Auditing for 'Green IT' settings, interrogating a systems power management controls, and utilizing NIST SCAP technologies demonstrate the applicability of configuration measurement standards beyond security automation and FISMA/FDCC compliance", said Andrew Bove, the Chief Technology Officer for Secure Elements. "Our customers believe that an open standards-based platform, for complying and managing all configuration related mandates, is the most cost effective method for managing compliance with all configuration related mandates."

Key features included are:

*Enterprise-wide Security Posture Dashboards & Reports with risk indices for;

• Configuration Compliance Scores

• Vulnerability Scores

• Patch Score

• Authorized Software Compliance Scores

*Enterprise-wide ENERGY STAR Scanning capabilities for XP and Vista

• Microsoft XP scanning for desktops and laptops for more than 9 settings

• Microsoft VISTA scanning for desktops and laptops for more than 27 settings

"Industry and EPA studies estimate savings of up to $75 per PC annually, provided basic methods and technologies/tools are implemented to audit and manage these settings," said Scott Armstrong, the VP of Marketing and Alliances for Secure Elements. "Now, our customers can satisfy their FDCC and FISMA requirements and comply with EO 13423 by managing their ENERGY STAR power saving settings with the C5 Compliance Platform".
