DALLAS, TX (PRWEB) April 25, 2004--The East Dallas Christian Church invites you to venture underground Saturday when its Alexanders Hideaway Coffeehouse music venue welcomes the electric blues and classic rock group Code Blue.

The concert in the smoke- and alcohol-free, family friendly church basement space is at 7:30 p.m. April 24. Doors open at 7 p.m. and tickets ($10 in advance, $12 at the door) or table reservations may be made by calling 214-824-8185 ext. 24 or emailing jack@edcc.org.

Code Blue came together when longtime friends Stuart Powley and Scott Wilson grew tired of the Dallas-areas classic rock scene and decided to try something different. They quickly enlisted the talents of Ken Evans, a talented keyboardist, guitarist, vocalist and prolific songwriter with whom theyve played in other projects.

Lead guitarist Dennis DC" Cherry joined the band after seeing Code Blue perform at Hole in the Wall -- the citys premier blues dive. Debbie Dobos soon signed on with passionate lead vocals, completing Code Blues unique sound.

One might think that a female lead would drastically alter the bands sound, but Cherry says, Debbie can really belt it out, plus she does a great job on the slow ones. As far as style goes, shes actually closer to our original sound than our last singer."

A New Jersey native, Debbies influences include Janice Joplin and Buddy Holly. In fact, she is reputed to be able to sing a dead-on Mercedes Benz," although this tune probably wont be included in the new sets because the band is having trouble figuring out what to do during it. We thought about playing cards or something, but its not really long enough." said drummer Scott Wilson.

As far as the overall effect on the band, keyboardist Evens says, I think she classes us up a bit. Debbies fun to work with and has a great sense of humor. She shares our work ethic and ambition, and shes not hard to look at. All in all I think its going to work out great!"

Tom Prasada-Rao and Cary Cooper perform May 22. The sum of these two magical parts" become a magical concoction where songs about ice cream become songs about love; where whimsical, playful notions, become powerful provocative songs.

Gospel artist Marion Snyder, formerly with the Stamps Quartet and the Imperial Sugar Quartet, will be on Alexanders Hideaway stage on June 26.

Coffeehouse proceeds support the EDCCs English Language Ministry, which helps immigrant families develop their English-speaking skills. Money is also donated to the Bedford-based Celebration Shop, which provides "healing musical programs for hospitalized children suffering from chronic and terminal diseases."

The 100-year-old church offers limited babysitting for children under 8 with advance notice for the price of an adult admission.
