PHRG Awarded Contract to Assist the State of California with Deployment of Electronic Disease Surveillance System

Portland, ME (PRWEB) April 29, 2004 --- The Public Health Resource Group (PHRG, www.phrg.com), headquartered in Portland, Maine was recently awarded a contract to assist the California Department of Health Services in deployment of a statewide electronic disease surveillance system. PHRG will work with Information Technology International (ITI, www.itiweb.com), the prime contractor for this project, to provide the state and counties with an integrated disease surveillance system. The system, built by ITI, complies with the Centers for Disease Control and Preventions (CDC) National Electronic Disease Surveillance System (NEDSS) specifications. Once deployed, the California health department and its 54 participating county health departments will be able to collect data on patients and contacts electronically using the Internet, conduct analysis, produce reports and improve their management of communicable and emerging diseases and conditions such as tuberculosis, sexual transmitted diseases, SARS and HIV/AIDS.

PHRGs work on this project with ITI will consist of defining the program specifications for the state and local health environments, designing disease investigation and management plans and system testing and training.
