Ashridge has been awarded degree awarding powers for its taught qualification programmes, with effect from 1 September 2008.

Hertfordshire (PRWEB) August 20, 2008 -- Ashridge has been awarded degree awarding powers for its taught qualification programmes, with effect from 1 September 2008.

Coinciding with its 50th anniversary as a business school, Ashridge will be awarding its first degrees, including the MBA, in May 2009 at its annual graduation ceremony. Previously, Ashridge qualification programmes were run in partnership with City University and latterly with Middlesex University.

This achievement is recognition of the high academic standards of Ashridge's MBA, MSc and Diploma programmes, as the UK's procedures for degree awarding powers are amongst the most rigorous in the world. Degree awarding powers are granted by Her Majesty's Privy Council, acting on the advice and recommendation of the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA).

Kai Peters, Ashridge CEO, comments: "Many employers in the public and private sectors are looking to recognise managers' learning and development by linking activities in with formal qualifications. Degree awarding powers will enable Ashridge to be flexible and innovative in designing qualification programmes that meet the needs of working professionals from around the world."
