Full Sail Welcomes Funk Genius George Clinton To Campus

Full Sail, a media college in Florida, welcomes musical pioneer George Clinton to campus for an Artist Series event.

(PRWEB) May 14, 2004 -- Music legend George Clinton will be the featured guest speaker for this months Full Sail Artist Series event, taking place May 17th at 7:00 PM. Produced by students from Full Sails Recording Arts program, this event will provide an exclusive opportunity for students to interact with a defining musical icon.

Best known as the creative mastermind behind premiere '70s funk bands Parliament and Funkadelic, George Clintons musical output dominated the decade. He revolutionized funk in the 70s with Parliament and Funkadelic," says Bill Smith, Program Director for Full Sails Recording Arts program. "He had countless hit records and singles with both bands, and they basically owned the funk market of the 70s."

Inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of fame in 1997, Clintons work with Parliament and Funkadelic includes such chart hits as Tear The Roof Off The Sucker (Give Up The Funk)," One Nation Under A Groove," Flashlight," and (Not Just) Knee Deep." His influence on popular music can be heard in the work of artists as varied as Prince, Dr. Dre, Primus, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
