Expanded Line of Far IR & THz Band Pass Filters with Center Wavelengths from 10 µm to 200 µm Lake Shore Cryotronics' expanded line of far-infrared and THz band pass filters employ frequency selective surface technology based on thin film, metal-mesh structures. The filters have excellent thermal and mechanical properties -- even at cryogenic and elevated temperatures. They will not de-laminate under harsh conditions, have peak transmission up to 85%, and are radiation hard. Westerville, OH (PRWEB) August 30, 2008 -- Lake Shore Cryotronics, Inc. has expanded its filter product offering for far infrared and THz applications. Employing frequency selective surface technology, the filters are designed with patterned, cross shaped, and other resonant opening geometries that allow the transmission of light at specific wavelengths.
Filters with 12.5, 19.0 and 25.0 mm diameters are available with center wavelength (CWL) transmissions up to 85%, CWL tolerance of ±0.1 µm, and out-of-band transmission down to 0.5%. The filters exhibit excellent thermal properties with stable and repeatable performance down to 4 K. Their 1 mm thickness enables entry into existing filter wheels, cryostats and compact optical instruments.
The band pass filters, along with Lake Shore's established line of porous silicon based long wave pass filters, can be used in a variety of applications including space based astronomy, ground or airborne astronomy, FTIR & THz spectroscopy among other electro-optics research and testing.
Many common CWL filters are currently available from stock and continued research and development will further extend the performance capabilities of the technology. Custom designs and sizes are available upon request.
