WINA Sponsors Wireless Workshop for End Users at Sensors Expo 2004 Learning about this free workshop being offered at Sensors Expo June 7 in Detroit. Sponsored by the Wireless Industrial Networking Alliance (WINA), the workshop will give participants the opportunity to learn about the WINA organization and how it can help them boost productivity and cut costs in their facilities. WINA is a nonprofit association that strives to help industrial users understand wireless system capabilities based on application areas. San Ramon, CA (PRWEB) May 22, 2004 --- Opportunity for Industrial Users to Gain Insight into Wireless Technology and Security Advances. In cooperation with Advanstar Technology Group, the Wireless Industrial Networking Alliance (WINA), today announced it will hold a free educational event during Sensors Expo 2004 in Detroit on June 7-10. All Sensors Expo attendees are invited to WINAs half-day workshop from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. on June 7th at Detroits COBO Center.
Workshop participants will learn about WINAs market study and diverse activities to demystify" wireless technology for the industrial end-user. Information will be presented in these technical areas: RF interference and coexistence, RF propagation and channel modeling, characterization of industrial environments, and wireless security. A panel discussion will focus on end-user needs, war stories, testimonials, and lessons learned from experience. Attendees are encouraged to participate in the discussion. Experts from WINAs member companies will be on hand to mentor discussions and lead attendee participation. A reception sponsored by WINA members will immediately follow the workshop.
Given the highly segmented nature of the sensors market, industrial end users need easier access to unbiased technical information and comprehensive wireless solutions," observed Rob Poor, CTO of Ember Corporation and WINA President. With that goal in mind, WINA is taking a 'hear it from the experts approach in its workshop at the Sensors Expo." This educational session is the first in a series of open workshops that WINA is planning to hold at upcoming industry events.
Steven Chen, WINAs Treasurer and the President and CEO of 3e Technologies International, stated, Wireless technologies and networking hold great promise for helping U.S. industry decrease infrastructure costs, lower production costs, and increase productivity--however, end users must see a clear value proposition with documented examples of proven applications and high ROI." He added, WINAs ongoing activities are targeted to educate users on the value of wireless technology with packaged solutions tailored to specific industrial applications."
About WINA WINA, an incorporated 501(c) (6) nonprofit association, strives to help industrial users understand wireless system capabilities based on application areas. Among WINAs goals are the following: - Form industry partnerships to sponsor wireless plant demonstrations - Support Web-based education and demonstration projects - Certify systems in specific types of applications - Define requirements and work with industry alliances and standards bodies to achieve them - Influence and support applicable standards
Alliance membership is open to wireless networking suppliers, integrators, industrial firms, standards bodies, and related associations. For more information, visit www.wina.org
