"Most American Contest" Sparking Real American Interest

USA101.com is an emerging Web site that provides a growing community with an impartial and open forum to convey diverse views of America and what it means to be an American at this point in history.

WASHINGTON, DC. (PRWEB) May 23 2004-- Its been 40 years since Americans were as polarized as they are today. Not since the Vietnam War era, have citizens harbored such strong feelings about this nation - whats good, whats bad; whats right, whats wrong.

USA101.com is an emerging Web site that provides a growing community with an impartial and open forum to convey diverse views of America and what it means to be an American at this point in history.

The new sites "Most American" contest is sparking interest among a rapidly growing community whose members clearly believe in the power of a single image to convey what words cannot.

USA101.com officially launches June 1, but more than 400,000 people have visited the site since its beta launch in February and viewed over one million pages. More than 300 Americans have submitted photos and the community has voted for "The Most American Image" twice, selecting Sissy MacDonald and Susan Coville as monthly winners of the $1,000 prize at the end of March and April.

People often think of American images as the obvious time-honored symbols, such as the Flag, Mount Rushmore, the Bald Eagle, or even the famous "Hollywood" sign. But USA101 is interested in what "America" means to Americans when they have cameras in hand. They might capture American images of a child sliding into home plate at a baseball game, the solemn expression on the face of a voter exercising her right on Election Day, or a family sharing Thanksgiving dinner.

Building on the initial success of the "Most American" contest, USA101.com has plans to add more contests to elicit site users images that convey what they see as the "Most American" images including school, city, and look. USA101 envisions this community as a growing digital library of American images and its members will have the option of building their own galleries, image cafes, or multimedia homepages as well.
