The Weather Channel Interactive Announces Winners of Video Forecast Contest for Kids

"Best Overall" Winner Received Trip for Four to Atlanta and a Tour of the New HD Studio at The Weather Channel

Atlanta (PRWEB) September 3, 2008 -- Kids can be funny, cute, professional, creative and entertaining - and all of these things are demonstrated by the winners of the user-generated video forecast contest held by The Weather Channel Interactive (TWCI). Winners of the video contest were announced today in the following three categories: "most creative," "most entertaining" and "most likely to be a meteorologist." The winners along with their parents produced and submitted their own weather forecast on weather.com.

Already viewed by hundreds of thousands of weather.com users, all video entries are featured at www.weather.com/kidcast. Some of the videos may be shown on-air on The Weather Channel network. The winners include:

• "Best overall" video - Dorsey Franklin, 7, Jamestown, KY, submitted by Scottie Franklin (The Forecast from the Beach)

• "Most creative" - Emily Snyder, 11, Lehighton, PA, submitted by Janine Snyder (A Smooth Forecast with Smooth Jazz)

• "Most entertaining" - Macauley Ure, 13, Coral Springs, FL, submitted by Julie Ure (An Energetic Forecast)

• "Most likely to be a meteorologist" - Ryan Hoke, 17, Louisville, KY, submitted by Kenneth Hoke (Teen Weather Beat)

The winners in each category received a $100 gift prize package from The Weather Channel. Contestant Dorsey Franklin was selected "best overall" and received the grand prize - a trip for four to Atlanta, including a tour of the new HD Studio at The Weather Channel.
