Next Step for Analog Interactive Television, Second Edition of TV-Windows Released.

The Netherlands (PRWEB) May 25, 2004--After piloting three years at TV2 in Hungary (part of the SBS group of television channels), the first generation TV-Windows analog interactive Television has been evaluated. The result is a new setup with improved readability and improved interactivity.

The new TV-Windows setup generates "interactive subtitling" via Teletext; it opens a small window on the TV-Screen in which any kind of text can be displayed. This way background information and interactive services can be added to the broadcast.

Instead of the previously used two line presentation format; a new, single line, double height, presentation format has been implemented. This substantially improves TV-Window's readability. By adding Fastext links to every TV-Window also the interactivity has been improved.

Since TV-Windows is based on classical Teletext technology, the TV-Viewers do not need any special equipment for using it and "digital" viewers can receive the services offered by TV-Windows as well.

Teletext penetration is very high in Europe, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. TV-Windows can therefore immediately offer interactivity to a majority of the European, Australian, New Zealand and South African TV-Viewers. Compared with traditional Teletext it is also five times faster. Switching between News- or Game-bars only takes a few seconds.

TV-Windows now offers a complete set of services ranging from News-, Advertising-, Shopping- and Lastminute-bars to SMS-, Dating-, Quiz-, Voting-, Betting- and Auction-bars.

On request further documentation and TV-Windows simulations are available.
