Johnston Sweepers signs partnership deal with Scottish Grass Machinery Johnston Sweepers has teamed up with Scottish Grass Machinery (SGM) in Scotland to distribute its pedestrian sweepers north of the border. (PRWEB) May 29, 2004 -- Johnston Sweepers has teamed up with Scottish Grass Machinery (SGM) in Scotland to distribute its pedestrian sweepers north of the border.
Through the partnership, SGM will take over the marketing and supply of Johnston Madvacs PS300 pedestrian sweepers and 61 litter collectors throughout Scotland, providing demonstrations, operator training and after sales support for the Canadian-built machines.
Scottish Grass Machinery is part of the SGM Group, the UKs leading ground maintenance equipment dealer, and operates through three specialist divisions in Scotland. SGM Golf supplies golf course and turf maintenance equipment to at least half of Scotlands golf market, while SGM Commercial specialises in mowers for the municipal market, supplying equipment to eighty per cent of Scotlands local authorities.
SGM Industrial, through which the Johnston Madvac products will be supplied, offers a complete range of utility vehicles to local authorities, including snow clearers, shredders, verge and hedge cutting equipment -- and precinct sweepers.
The Inverkeithing-based business had been looking for a pedestrian sweeper to add to its range of utility products, in response to demand from customers.
"We were being asked for a quality machine for litter and leaf collection, so we took a close look at all the products on the market", says Steven McInroy, SGMs Managing Director. "We chose the Johnston Madvac products for their design and international branding -- and because we received very positive reports from existing customers. The partnership is a good move for both of us -- SGMs has added another quality product to its fleet, and we believe we can help Johnston to gain market share in Scotland."
Johnston is equally enthusiastic about the partnership. "Scottish Grass Machinery is renowned for its expertise in the local authority and golf course market in Scotland, and were delighted to be working with them", says Rachael Holden, Johnstons UK Sales Manager. "SGM Industrial supplies equipment to eighty per cent of Scotlands local authorities and has a huge knowledge of the market, which can only serve to open new doors for us in the Scottish market."
The PS300 caters to a growing demand across Europe for versatile and safe to operate pedestrian sweepers. The design works on the Johnston principal of no litter ever touching the fan, which reduces dust and keeps maintenance costs to a minimum. Its ingenious High Dump load discharge system entirely eliminates the need for any manual handling of the contents, while independent tests have proved that the machines dust filtration system captures up to 27 times more dust and nine times more bacteria than other sweepers, so it really clean, safe and comfortable to operate.
The 61 is a powerful and completely portable litter collector which can be towed or mounted on a pick up truck. Its long suction hose makes it ideal for clearing windblown litter from landfill site fences, motorway central reservations, ditches and verges.
The PS300 is rapidly gaining popularity in inner city areas where access for sweeping is limited. Greenwich Council in London recently took delivery of 25 machines, giving them the largest fleet of PS300s in Europe, while Onyx Westminster operates 21 of the little sweepers and were among the first UK contractors to purchase them when they were first introduced to the European market in 2000.
