Chicago, IL (PRWEB) June 1, 2004 -- The truest expression of what is loosely termed "functional art", Studio Furniture refers to limited edition or one of a kind furnishings handcrafted in an artisan's studio. This exciting exhibition, "Diversity: Studio Furniture - part 1", is intended to provide a public introduction to the wide variety of forms, materials, techniques, and inspirations present in our field. Its mission is to educate the viewer to the wide range of possibilites that Studio Furniture presents; the practical, useful yet sculptural object that, properly cared for, may serve generations.

Steel, bronze, various woods, concrete, and glass... geometric, organic, and whimsical... all will be represented by more than 20 works by over a dozen designers and artisans.

The exhibition is open now through July 31 at Function + Art, a Chicago, IL (USA) gallery which has specialized in fine craft and the decorative/applied arts for over a decade. Gallery hours: Tues - Sat., 10am - 6pm, other times by chance or appointment. No charge to attend. The exhibition is also available for online viewing at: http://www.functionart.com/Exhibitions/Furniture0404/FurnitureExhibit_0404.html
