Pitch & Hit Club of Chicago Provides a Free, Wood Bat, Baseball Showcase for Select High School Players Throughout the Midwest

The Pitch and Hit Club of Chicago is a professional baseball organization that promotes the game of baseball in the Chicago area. The Pitch and Hit Club was formed by a group of Major League players and scouts in January of 1942, originally as a social organization. Since its inception, the Club has grown substantially in size as well as its stature in the professional baseball community. The role of the club has changed through the years, sponsoring various teams and tournaments, and will again this year, host the premier amateur wood bat workout to showcase the highest-level amateur baseball talent in Illinois and the surrounding states.

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) September 10, 2008 -- The Pitch & Hit Club of Chicago High School Baseball Showcase is scheduled to take place on October 4th at Silver Cross Field in Joliet, Illinois. Fifty selected high school baseball players from throughout the Midwest have been invited to this premiere wood bat showcase free of charge.

Registration will begin at 8:00 a.m. above the 1st base gate.

Area scout for the Toronto Blue Jays, Steve Miller and Associate Head Baseball coach from Illinois State University, Mark Kingston will present "What we look for" to the players and parents from 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

Players will begin stretching for the October 4th event at 9:00 a.m. with the workout beginning at 9:30 a.m. A 12-inning game will follow up the showcase beginning at 11:00 a.m.

Entrance fee for parents, guests, and non-Pitch and Hit Club members is $5. Player information booklets are $20 apiece.

$30 members: Pay 2008/2009 membership, entrance, and booklet (Membership is $20, new membership is $25).

The current roster is available via the Pitch & Hit Club of Chicago website and will be updated on a weekly basis.

This year's Pitch & Hit Club of Chicago High School Baseball Showcase is presented by the Hoosier Bat Company and is sponsored by the Illinois High School Baseball Report, Drive Performance, and Playball USA.
